Project Description

Yarra Ranges Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from local arts practitioners and public art professionals to join the RidgeWalk Creative Advisory Panel (RWCAP).

Two successful applicants will work alongside industry leaders to provide creative oversight to the development and delivery of the project’s creative program.

RidgeWalk is a large-scale art experience. It celebrates the natural and cultural histories of the Dandenong Ranges, from First Nations people to contemporary local communities. It runs along 39 kilometres of walking track.

The Australian Government, Victorian State Government and Yarra Ranges Council provided $9.8 million of project funding. The funding enables significant upgrades to existing tracks, 14 kilometres of new pathways, the installation of architectural nodes, wayfinding signage and heritage interpretation – along with permanent sculpture, land art and a rotating program of temporary exhibitions and performances.

There is a commitment to deliver 10 artworks and creative projects over 2 years for RidgeWalk (2021-2022). A curatorial framework and guiding principles have been developed and will be used to support the RWCAP.

Appointments will be until December 2022 (with a possible extension) and remuneration is offered to eligible participants. The role requires a commitment of approximately eight on-site and remote meetings per year.
